What does the Cards being in the Super Bowl have to do with weekly attendance at the FBR? Last I checked, the Super Bowl was Sunday only. There numbers were down close to 10,000 for the opening five days of the week (pro am, practice rounds, and opening two rounds). Granted, last year's attendance was a record at the FBR, with the Super Bowl being played just down the road in Glendale. My point is attendance was down for the week, as were hospitality numbers, for one of the PGA's biggest fan draws.

Totally agree with the Tiger effect and once he returns, I think you'll see a shift in the fortunes of a few of these tournaments that are falling on tough times. There is obviously no denying Tiger's drawing power.

The Tour will survive, no doubt, just as this economic swoon will pass. The point is Ginn may be just scratching the surface...the PGA Tour will end up taking a lot of sponsors to court who, quite frankly, can't meet the requirements, contract or no contract.

Thanks for the comments!

Use your head, the reason attendance was down at the FBR on SUNDAY was that THE HOME TOWN ARIZONA CARDINALS were playing in something called the SUPERBOWL. Maybe you haven't heard of it, its the biggest game played in US SPORT - Some 90 PLUS million people watch it every year?

I won't deny that times are tough and that the corporate environment is shifting, but new sponsors can and will be found and the Tour will go on. This will be a time where we find out where Tiger's allegience is. If he decides to, I firmly beleive he can save many events on Tour...by playing in them and helping sell the Tour.
